Question of the Day

What is the Merlin taxonomy system?

The Merlin taxonomy system is the system that makes content topics and sub-topics easier to search on PBS.org. When content is submitted to Merlin, one of eight topic areas must be selected which allows the content to surface on the appropriate PBS.org topic page. Doing so allows users to easily browse, search, and discover new content. The eight topic areas in Merlin are as follows: Arts & Entertainment, Culture & Society, Health, Parents, Home & How-to, History, Science & Nature, News & Public Affairs, and Technology. Sub-topics are also available for stations seeking to further categorize their content.
