Mario Rebolledo-Vieyra, Ph.D.

Mario Rebolledo-Vieyra was born in Mexico City. His primary vocational focus is oceanography, specializing in paleoceanography. During his senior year attending his university, he discovered geophysics and found his calling. He attended graduate school in Mexico, the United States and Israel, and completed a post-doc in France, where he became involved in the scientific research of the Yucatán Peninsula.
During his doctoral. studies, he investigated the Chicxulub Impact Crater and its roll in the extinction of dinosaurs. For 10 years, Rebolledo-Vieyra has been researching the geology and geophysics of the Yucatan Peninsula. Since 2004, he has been a scientist at Centro de Investigacion Cientifica de Yucatan, A.C. (CICY), and since January 2005, he has been the director of the Center for the Studies on Water at CICY.
