Read With Me: Developing Early Literacy with Children

Designed for preschool teachers and caregivers who want to have fun reading, singing, and sharing stories with children. This course explores using stories to develop pre-reading and pre-writing skills such as oral language and vocabulary development, phonemic awareness and reading comprehension. The course focuses on the ways multimedia can facilitate the sharing of stories with children and provides research-based articles, video examples from the KERA best practices video, Read with Me, online interactives and many more PBS resources.
Note: Learners will need access to preschool-aged children to complete this course. Learners have two weeks to complete each session of the course.
This course is only offered to groups of 12 or more learners.
Classroom Link-Access to students recommended. PBS Classroom Link courses ask learners to implement lessons with their class or with a small group of students (options for learners without access to students are available).
