Developing Passionate Readers in a Digital World

Course Section Description:

Reading is power! Reading has the potential to fill students with emotion, take them on exciting adventures, and open doors to higher learning and understanding. Through teacher blogs, author videos, articles, discussions, and collaborative peer-to-peer projects, you will learn ways to support and motivate young readers to read within and beyond your classroom! This course provides specific strategies to ignite students’ interests. You will discover the best digital reading technologies (e-Books), how to use them with your students and integrate them into your curriculum. You will learn how to use a wealth of online resources and tools to inspire a love of reading through authentic experiences, such as reading interest surveys and personal reading goals.

Note: This is a facilitated course. Learners submit coursework and participate in asynchronous discussions throughout the course term, and receive graded feedback.

Classroom Link Course: This course asks learners to implement lessons with their class or with a small group of students (options for learners without access to students are available).

For assignments and evaluation details, see the full Syllabus.

Similar to an in-person undergraduate or graduate-level course, the number of hours identified for this course reflects the expected amount of time learners will spend online, but does not reflect the total time spent completing coursework and assignments offline.
