How do I write an effective Suggestion?
The effectiveness of a Suggestion can be greatly enhanced by remembering a few simple guidelines:
- Indicate the reason for sharing the resources you have attached. Be positive.
- Identify the specific need the resource is addressing.
- Encourage the recipient to reply to your Suggestion, and indicate how they might use the resources you've attached.
Sample Suggestion Sent by a Coach to a Teacher
Hi Tracy,
Indicate the reason for sharing resource. Be positive.
The activity you shared with me last week worked out well. I loved the interactive that your students where using to learn how changing the lengths of the sides of a rectangular prism affects the volume and surface area. They seemed to enjoy the dynamic nature of the exercise. It was a great way to start the class.
Identify the specific need the resource is addressing.
I did notice that some students where having a hard time figuring out the meaning of unknown words in the text they read before using the interactive. I found some resources (which I have attached to this message) that include some strategies that your students could use to figure out the meaning of difficult terms.
Encourage recipient to reply to your suggestion, indicate how they can use the resource.
Do you think they would be useful? If so, you could use them when you design the lesson plan for the next unit.
Suggest the next steps or a follow-up conversation.
Let's discuss these strategies in our weekly discussion with the other math teachers.
Thanks for making me feel so welcome and so integrated.
Liz
