Publishing on the Web

Teacherline Class

Online publishing with and for students of today is an integral element of the classroom experience. The options and goals for publishing are limitless—tools that can create classroom Web sites, educational blogs, learning portals, wikis, and social media sites are easily accessible. The challenge for both teachers and students is to learn to use the Web wisely and meaningfully, and to be digitally literate. This course will help learners understand the reasons for publishing on the Web and provides the opportunity to publish online—both for students and for educators' own professional development.

Gain a better understanding of key issues surrounding technology integration, such as how to meet technology standards and choose the most suitable technology for a specific purpose. Identify lessons or concepts in your classroom that may benefit from technological enhancement. Learn to devise a strategy for integrating technology into your lesson plans.

This course surveys the tools and background needed to use the Internet successfully as a research tool in the classroom. Practice different methods of Internet research and learn to apply them effectively and efficiently. Review the ethical and legal issues that may arise when using these new tools in the classroom.
