Objective

Students explore basic connections between graphs, tables, and symbolic representations for lines, parabolas, inverse models, and exponential models. One of the primary goals of this lesson is to help students begin to recognize patterns that are different from lines.

Overview of the Lesson

his lesson emphasizes patterns, discovery, and vocabulary by focusing on the basic connections between the graphs, tables, and symbolic representations for lines, parabolas, inverse models, and exponential models. Students investigate patterns and various models using the graphing calculator. It is designed for first-year high school students and would be an ideal lesson following a unit on lines.
