Going Local with Global Warming

One of the most comprehensive reports on global climate change impacts is from The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), which coordinates and integrates federal research on changes in the global environment and their implications for society. This report presents, in plain language, the science and impacts of climate change on the United States, now and in the future. It focuses on climate change impacts on U.S. regions and various aspects of society and the economy such as energy, water, agriculture, and health.

Go to the interactive map on the website The U.S. Global Change Research Program. Select the region where your community is located and learn about expected impacts of a warming world where you live.

What have you learned about future climate changes in your region?

What are some other environmental and economic factors about your community that might lessen or heighten the impact of future climate change?

Do the data you explored in the activities from the Explore section support the information you found on the interactive map?
