Capture students' excitement about designing
and building things! Architecture and construction
both involve using geometry, algebra, and numbers.
In
this section, the first activity gives students a chance
to do some computation and problem solving. They will
figure out how much of various materials they would
need if they were building a house.
The
second activity is a project in which students look
for the mathematics that exists in the buildings and
structures around them. When they start to look, they
may realize how much mathematics is in the world all
around them.
Hope
you enjoy the mathematics understanding that you and your students
"build" with these activities!
