Quentin Aanenson: My spirit would soar
Seeing a lonely plane flying overhead lured Quentin Aanenson away from the farm.
Interview outtakes from THE WAR:
"It's strange that, uh, it never entered my mind that I was going to be a farmer, stay on the farm, and I, I've wondered where that came from. Was it something that was born into me from my mother or my father? Neither one of them wanted me to stay on the farm when I grew up and got educated. So, I always had something on the horizon that I would look forward to. And, literally, sometimes I would be on a piece of farm machinery behind a couple of horses, uh, plowing corn, and a lonely airplane would fly over and I would look up and my spirit would soar. That's where I want to be sometime. I want to live that way. I want to do those things."
