David Olds Ph.D.

Topics

Dr. Olds is a Professor of Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Preventive Medicine, and Nursing at the University of Colorado. In addition to his professorship, Dr. Olds directs the Prevention Research Center for Family and Child Health. He has devoted his career to investigating methods of preventing health and developmental problems in children and parents from low-income families, as living in poverty poses additional life stressors. The primary focus of his work has been on testing and developing the Nurse Family Partnership: a program where nurses make prenatal and infancy home visits for socially disadvantaged mothers bearing first children.

Dr. Olds obtained his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and his Ph.D. from Cornell.
