The Search for Josiah Henson

Relive the Field School »

Fourteen high school students from the Washington D.C. metropolitan area spent several days exploring the science of archaeology at the Josiah Henson Field School. While the Team was working with Maryland archaeologists to uncover the fascinating story of the life of Josiah Henson at the Riley Plantation, the Field School youth spent some time a few miles away at the Needwood Mansion gaining hands-on experience excavating a real archaeological site.
