Women pay more for consumer goods. Why?
Three candidates were exposed in the GOP debate Saturday night for falling for political correctness when they said women should be required to register with Selective Service, which means our daughters would be drafted along with our sons in time of war.
Following the backlash to their recommendation that women of childbearing age should avoid alcohol unless they’re on birth control, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now saying they were misunderstood. The CDC’s Principal Deputy Director Anne Schuchat told the New York Times that their intention was to make clear that alcohol consumption can have harmful effects on fetuses and that these effects were preventable. They were not, she explained, suggesting that women should abstain from drinking on behalf of their hypothetical children.
As the number of breadwinner moms quadrupled over the past half-century, stereotypical gender roles began fading away. A dad who does his kids’ laundry is no longer an adorable anomaly. A mom grinding toward the corner office is just another ambitious employee.
Forget women on boards and focus on women in leadership: that is the message from a major study of more than 21,000 public companies in 91 countries that found increasing the number of women in top management positions notably boosts profitability.
