Fox News Terminates Contract with Bill O’Reilly

Will it impact employers or sexual harassment protocol in the workplace?

  • Sabrina Schaeffer: "Putting this case aside, we have to be careful to not always rush to judgement because lives can be ruined. Real gender equality is making sure that both parties take responsibility when it’s necessary.”

  • Donna Edwards: "I think the public knows now that we can have a significant impact when there is organizing.”

  • Jennifer Higgins: "It shows that we need more public accountability for organizations that foster  a culture of inappropriate behavior.”

  • Bonnie Erbe: “Did women cause him to be pushed out finally, or was it responding to advertisers?”

  • Hilary Rosen: "Too many women feel that their careers will be ruined if they do come out more publically, so they’re willing to take money and stay quiet. Women need to feel like they will be a hero if they come out and claim this. ”

    • It must be said that some people get fired for this, and some people get elected president.

Ivanka Trump’s Ethical Conduct

Is it ethical for the president’s daughter to profit from her business as a federal government employee?

  • Sabrina Schaeffer: "Government grows. It makes it harder to attract people who aren’t career politicians into the White House. Whether you’re a Democrat or a Republic, we want people who have real-world experience.”

  • Donna Edwards: "What is not ethical is the idea that this family continues to make certain that it profits off of Donald Trump being president of the United States. There has to be a brighter line between the White House and their businesses.”

  • Jennifer Higgins: "I don’t believe that everything is like House of Cards and there’s this sinister motive here to maximize the profitability of the Trump administration.”

  • Bonnie Erbe: “Where is the public outrage? Can you imagine Clinton doing this?”

    • Every Republican woman that I know and I’m friends with many, they all say the same thing. ‘You know, we got to keep her there.’ There’ve been no evidence of [Ivanka Trump] having any influence on any policy from presidential appointments to the environment to women’s rights

  • Hilary Rosen: "Ivanka Trump learned at her father’s knee. This is kleptocracy. But there is kind of this hope and prayer that she will be this advocate for women like she said she would be.”

Betsy DeVos

DeVos has plans to roll back Obama-era student loan reforms and appoint an opponent of affirmative action as deputy assistant secretary for civil rights. Who will be affected?

  • Sabrina Schaeffer: "The goal is give more families a choice of where they can send their children.”

  • Donna Edwards: "This has been a systematic dismantling of public education, and these early moves by the Trump administration signal where they want to go.”

  • Bonnie Erbe: “Her family has a business starting charter schools. It’s money for her.”

  • Hilary Rosen: "The far right finally has a leader in Betsy DeVos who wants to execute on their wishes. They seem to want to reverse engineer all of the progress that this country has made in diversity, inclusion and empowerment. ”
