TTC Extra: China's One-Child Policy
November 15, 2013, Episode #36
In 1979 China instituted its first one-child policy to slow population growth. Despite the country still leading the world in population size, the policy has been amended to allow some couples a second child. The original policy restricted births to a single child unless both parents were only-children. Now only one parent needs to be an only-child to legally have a second child.
