Albert
Meyerhoff, attorney
Albert Meyerhoff has specialized for nearly 30 years in labor,
civil rights and environmental law. In 1981, he joined the Natural
Resources Defense Council (NRDC)
as Director of their Public Health Program. He specialized in litigation
concerning toxic substances and occupational health and brought
successful challenges to the continued use of cancer-causing pesticides,
the exclusion of women of "child-bearing age" from the
workplace and the California Governor's failure to comply with Proposition
65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxics Enforcement law. Mr. Meyerhoff
has also testified more than 50 times before the U.S. Senate and
House of Representatives, including in support of comprehensive
pesticide reform legislation finally enacted as the Food Quality
Protection Act of 1996.
He is
now a partner with Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach LLP,
the nation's largest plaintiff's class action law firm, and he specializes
in labor, human rights and environmental litigation.
Mr Meyerhoff has authored numerous articles for scholarly and general
publications including the Stanford Law Review, EPA Journal, Environmental
Law Quarterly, New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times;
he has been an invited speaker at the Harvard Business School, the
National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Sciences
and the AFL-CIO.
Mr Meyerhoff received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Connecticut in 1969 and his Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School
in 1972. He serves as a member of the Sierra Club Board of Trustees
and the editorial board of Mother Jones magazine.
