Mary Katharine Ham

Mary Katharine Ham is an editor and blogger with a background in both the mainstream media and conservative politics. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2002 with a degree in NewspaperJournalism and a minor in SEC Football Triumphalism.

After that, she jumped the mainstream media ship and headed to The Heritage Foundation as the editor of The Insider magazine and InsiderOnline.org. She served as a columnist and associate editor of Townhall.com before she joined the Salem team as editor in October 2005.

Since working with Salem Communications, she has blogged at HughHewitt.com, where she was named "Rookie Blogger of the Year" by a distinguished committee of one-- namely Hugh. But to be fair, Hewitt did write the book on blogging. In her job as managing editor of Townhall.com, she is in charge of the site's news content and generally gossiping with other bloggers.

"To The Contrary: Immigration's Impact" is our three-part series on the effect immigration has on various aspects of US life: on the environment, on America's health care system and on low-wage workers. This fact-based coverage examines how the record influx of new residents is affecting natural resources, wages for low-income workers and an already-stressed health care system.
