The Saint Louis Art Museum has the world’s largest collection of paintings and prints of Max Beckmann, considered by many art historians to be the greatest German artist of the 20th century. Simon Kelly, SLAM’s curator of modern and contemporary art takes us through the collection, describing Beckmann’s artistic style and his strong connections to St. Louis.
