When her father sued Alachua County Public Schools to end desegregation, he also offered his own daughter to attend all-white Gainesville High School. LaVon Bracy, now living in Orlando, Fla., remembers the abuse she suffered from so many students and administrators – but she wouldn’t give up the fight to end segregation in public schools, even when it meant putting her own life at risk.
