When I painted this crowds, I just painted them like they are on the streets now. But altogether its also a portrait of the end of the century. You can connect it with Russia but you also connect it, with the end of the century which is very sad time, because it was the age of great expectations, it was the age of efforts, it was the age of great constructions and great theories: awful theories, awful expectations, awful efforts, but great,Max Kantor, artist.
