Broadcast premiere: Wednesday, June 30, 2004 on PBS stations nationwide. (Check local listings.)
The concert was taped before a live audience at the White House throughout the weekend of February 21-22, 2004.
Part documentary and part performance special, the program follows the event's planning and execution, from the kitchen, where executive chef Walter Scheib and executive pastry chef Roland Mesnier prepare dazzling dishes, to the flower shop to the State Dining Room. The show culminates, as the evening did, in an East Room concert for the Bushes and the governors by Grammy Award-winner Natalie Cole. Cole treats the assembled group to a mixture of old favorites and newer works including "Unforgettable", "Route 66", "L-O-V-E", "This Will Be" and "I'm a Woman". See song list...
