Cyndi Lauper's unique style influenced girls' fashion for years after the success of her first solo album, She's So Unusual, in 1983. Following her debut, Lauper earned a Grammy Award for "Best New Artist" and two American Music Awards. Her music videos brought her pop culture stardom and MTV's "Best Female Video Artist" award. Lauper has received two Grammy nominations. She made her acting debut in the movie Vibes in 1988. In 1994, her guest appearance on the TV sitcom Mad About You earned her an Emmy nomination and, in 1995, she won an Emmy Award for the guest role. Lauper also appeared in the films Life with Mikey and Off and Running. In 1999, she appeared in The Opportunists, her first dramatic role. She has toured with superstars Tina Turner and Cher.
