Candice Bergen, most recently seen in the film "The In-Laws," is perhaps best known for her role as the title character on CBS's critically acclaimed "Murphy Brown." She received five Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards for her 10 years as Murphy. Bergen received an Oscar nomination for the film "Starting Over." Other film credits include "A View from the Top," "Sweet Home Alabama," and "Miss Congeniality." Her international film credits include "The Sand Pebbles," filmed in Formosa with director Robert Wise, and "Vivre Pour Vivre," filmed in France with Claude LeLouche. Her journalistic ventures include articles in Esquire, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, New York Magazine and Life. Her 1984 autobiography spent several weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. On the Oxygen network, she hosted "Candice Checks It Out," where she explored current trends, as well as "Exhale," a nightly one-hour talk show. She made her Broadway debut as Darlene in "Hurly Burly," directed by Mike Nichols, and has appeared in numerous television movies and miniseries, including "Mayflower Madam," "Murder: By Reason of Insanity," "Footsteps" and "Hollywood Wives." Bergen lives in New York City.
