How to Divine Sarah Palin's 2012 Intentions from Her Bus Tour

Sarah Palin is kicking off her totally-not-a-presidential-campaign-bus-tour of the East Coast Sunday with a stop at a veterans' motorcycle rally in Washington, D.C. After that, she's headed to historical sites up the coast with the goal of "reminding ourselves who we are and what Americans stand for." But those stops are, as of yet, unnamed! Like everything Palin does, every moment of her "One Nation" roadtrip will be scrutinized for clues as to what she's thinking about 2012.

After a lonely fight from Senator Rand Paul, the Senate voted to extend the Patriot Act for four more years, passing three key provisions of the national security bill set to expire at midnight. The bill had the support of leaders in both parties and passed easily by a 72-23 vote.

Bachmann Keeps Inching Toward Run

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., on Thursday took a baby step toward officially declaring her candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination.

"The announcement will be made in Iowa, and it will be made in Waterloo, and we'll give you the date and the time," Bachmann said on a conference call to reporters in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was slated to headline a Polk County GOP event but canceled at the last minute in order remain in Washington to vote on an extension of the PATRIOT Act.
