He has written on topics from the Iran nuclear negotiations to the U.S.-Saudi relationship to Barack Obama’s counter-terrorism policies. His recent TIME covers include stories on the mind of Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama's Syria policy. During the Obama era he has traveled to China, Egypt, Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Turkey, Mexico and Ukraine.
Crowley was previously a senior editor at The New Republic and a reporter for the Boston Globe and has written for the New York Times Magazine, New York, The Atlantic and many other publications.
