Bill Clinton rallies Austin supporters

(U-WIRE) AUSTIN, Texas — Former president Bill Clinton spoke to 4,700 Hillary Clinton supporters Saturday night at the opening of his wife's Austin campaign headquarters.

Clinton delivered his speech twice: once to a crowd of supporters that managed to fit inside the office and again to an overflow crowd outside.

"If you win Travis County for Hillary, she's gonna win Texas, and she'll be the nominee of the Democratic Party," Clinton said.

He projected that Sen. Clinton will win in Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina and will have the most votes to grab the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in August.

"Hillary has been coming here, working here and loving it here for more than 35 years," Clinton said of Texas.

Clinton spoke about his wife's involvement in registering Mexican-American voters in South Texas.

"She loves Texas, and we owe you a lot," he said.

The crowd cheered when Clinton mentioned universal health care, giving every young person a chance to go to college and allowing college graduates entering the service industry to use their service to repay loans.

"That's what you hire a president to do - to help good things happen and stop bad things from happening to the American people, so we can go forward together into the future," Clinton said.

He asked supporters to talk with Austin voters, try to convert undecided voters and give minor contributions to the campaign.
