Montgomery Greyhound Bus Station

Though Governor John Patterson promises to protect the Nashville Freedom Riders as they travel through Alabama, the Montgomery police ignore a violent mob that waits for the Riders’ bus to reach the Greyhound terminal. A riot ensues in which reporters are attacked first before the mob turns on the Riders. John Lewis and Jim Zwerg are beaten and US Justice Department official, John Seigenthaler is knocked unconscious while trying to protect one of the Riders.
