Brooke Myers Blue Star Awards Program Greenwood, MO

How did you get into theater?

I always enjoyed performing and having people watch me… My mom put me in a variety of show choirs and acting classes when I was younger but I didn’t really get into actual staged performances until my sixth grade year of elementary school. The music director at my elementary school had decided to do a musical for the first time and she chose to do the musical "Annie"… I got cast as Annie and I can honestly say that to this day that is one of my favorite shows that I have ever done.

Who are some of your role models in entertainment?

Sutton Foster, because she is AMAZING! She is like a goddess on stage and one day, if I could be as successful as she is, I don’t know what I would do with myself. Celine Dion and Carrie Underwood, because I grew up listening to them and they are both inspirational. They are so talented vocally and have stayed out of trouble which is something that I admire.

Why is performing important to you?

Performing is important to me because it gives me a sense of achievement. The adrenaline rush I get when I am on stage has no comparison and I love that people appreciate and enjoy what I do. I like to please people and I feel like when I perform I definitely do that. I also want to prove to my parents that I can do it.
