Brooke Tate Gene Kelly Awards Pittsburgh, PA

How did you get into theater?

My mom took me to see a high school production of "The Wizard of Oz" and after the show the girl who played Dorothy talked to me. Since then I was hooked.

Who are some of your role models in entertainment?

I'm a huge fan of Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet. I feel that both of those actresses make such great role models on and off the set. Also my director, Deborah Frauenholz. By trusting her direction and advice she has helped me become the young adult I am today and I'm proud of that.

What sets you apart from other performers?

I feel like I have a different way of knowing a character. I really do feel like I understand the depth of the human condition and that helps me create a character.
