Chase Fischer Globe Honors Poway, CA
How did you get into theater?
I originally started doing theater because my mom encouraged me to do the summer play at our church. It was the story of David and Goliath and I was David. That was when I was eight years old, and I’ve been doing theater ever since.
Who are some of your role models in entertainment?
Any hero of mine is someone who is farther in their career than I am. I look up to all professional actors. One person I really look up to is Hunter Schwarz, who was actually competing with me at The Old Globe. He is partly the reason I go to the school I go to now because I saw him in a show and was totally blown away by his talent. I realized that I wanted to do this as a career by watching him perform. Now he’s one of my best friends.
Why is performing important to you?
Performing is extremely important to me, it really is all I’ve ever known. There’s something about entertaining other people that makes me feel good about myself. The laughter and applause is worth the hard work put into the performance. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and makes me feel proud of myself, just like getting an A+ in your hardest class in school.
