How did you get into theater?
I’ve been performing for my family since I was old enough to sing a note. I would do little skits in front of our fireplace and sing different Disney songs like “Part of Your World” from "The Little Mermaid"... I began to perform on the stage when I was 6 years old and my first role was a munchkin in "The Wiz". It was so exciting because Sherman Hemsley was playing the Wizard and I couldn’t believe I was sharing the stage with a guy I had seen on television. It was an incredible experience and I decided that it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Tell us about your family.
My family is very supportive. My mom did her high school musicals when she was my age and my dad aspired to be an actor and worked for Disney World for a good part of his young life. They have always been my number one fans.
Who are some of your role models in entertainment?
My heroine in entertainment is Julie Andrews. She has always been so graceful and beautiful and truly amazing. "The Sound of Music" still remains one of my favorite movie musicals. Her story is one that touched my heart because even though she lost her voice, she still pulled through and continued her career in entertainment… My hero in entertainment is Norbert Leo Butz because I think he is hilarious and has such a unique voice. He is also a very diverse actor. He can go from playing Fiyero in "Wicked" to Jamie in "The Last Five Years."
