Michael Williams Dallas Summer Musical High School Musical Theatre Awards McKinney, TX
How did you get into theater?
My very first role was in "Cats"… I was so scared, but I remembered what my mom told me, “You’re playing an old cat with Bell’s palsy and the shakes… you can be as nervous as you like and the audience will think you’re in character!”… From that point on I started voice lessons, and won every vocal competition I entered… Three years, eight musical theater productions, fifteen vocal competitions and countless numbers of singing events later…I can tell you I have found my passion!
Tell us about your family.
My parents and family are very supportive of me and are actually moving to New York to help me launch. My mom and two little sisters will be moving in June for what we are calling the big, Big Apple Adventure!
What sets you apart from other performers?
As far as looking at competitors and spending my energy comparing; I just don’t think that way. It’s dangerous. My mom says there will always be someone who can out dance you or out act you, or who is better looking, but they aren’t you! Don’t spend your time or energy watching everyone else and work on yourself, know your weaknesses and your strengths.
