Sabaa Sharma The Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards Memphis, TN
What challenges have you had to overcome to get here?
Ever since I was a child, I had been trained to play and perform music in only recitals. However, in my junior year of high school, I took a dive in a new direction, and decided to go ahead and face a new challenge of participating in the musical theater production at my school. When I found out that I had gotten the lead role after the auditions, I was extremely excited, but I was stuck between two decisions. I had just received the news that I had been named 1st chair in the All-State’s Women’s Choir, and both the musical and the All-State program were the same weekend. After countless meetings with my music teachers, I realized that I needed to try something new, so I came to the decision of joining the musical.
