Indicator definition:

Income is measured as the value of an economy's gross domestic product (adjusted for inflation and converted to US dollars) divided by its population. Source: International Monetary Fund.

What you can learn from this indicator:

Income, or "per capita GDP" reflects hypothetical differences in the standard of living between two economies. However, this indicator does not tell us whether wealth is evenly distributed. A high value here does not mean that every individual is doing well.
