Daniel Yergin, co-author of The Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy, is an expert on international economics, politics, and energy. Yergin received his BA from Yale University and his Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He has served on the U.S. Secretary of Energy's Advisory Board and has chaired the U.S. Department of Energy's Task Force on Strategic Energy Research and Development. Yergin received the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for his book The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power. He is also the author of Shattered Peace and co-author of Energy Future, Russia 2010, and What It Means for the World. Yergin is co-founder and chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, an independent energy research and information firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
