Violent images -- such as these of exploding weapons,
political conflict, or athletes fighting -- are widely televised and published.
Some feel that such images contribute to a violent world;
others see them as reflections of a world in which violence already exists.

This image of Gulf War weaponry in action was broadcast nationally on public television.

Photographs of the clashes between protestors and authorities were part of the coverage of the World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle in December 1999.

Nationally broadcast sports events sometimes erupt into violence, as evidenced by this photograph of hockey players fighting.
