Kiyoe Wellington
Kiyoe Wellington (double bass), 15, hails from Kaneohe, Hawaii where she is a sophomore at the Hawaii School for Girls in Honolulu. Kiyoe first began her contrabass studies with her grandfather, George Wellington, Sr., founder of the Hawaii Contrabass Festival. This past June, Kiyoe took first prize in the International Society of Bassists’ 14 and under solo competition. In her spare time, she plays bass in a rock band and loves to draw, paint, sew and create sculptures.
