The Young People's Chorus of New York City
The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC), with 47 members ages 8-18, calls the 92nd Street Y its home. Founded and directed by Francisco J. Núñez, the choir has commissioned pieces from many of today’s most prominent composers, and has won gold medals in choral competitions around the world, including two in the 2004 Choir Olympics in Bremen, Germany. This year, the choir will travel to Graz, Austria, for the Choir Olympics. Annually, the YPC serves more than 1,000 young people from the New York City area through its core after-school program and its satellite program in eight New York City public schools.
