Golan Heights

The Golan Heights is a rocky plateau located to the east of the Jordan River and is the subject of an ongoing border dispute between Syria and Israel. In the 1967 Six-Day War, Syria lost the Golan Heights to Israel. In 1981 Israel annexed the Golan Heights, claiming legal and political authority in the area. Syria rejects this claim.
