Viewing Strategies The Ponder Heart can be viewed in three segments, approximately thirty minutes each, that parallel divisions in Welty's book. The first segment ends just after the wedding scene (about 30 minutes, 43 seconds into the film). The second segment finishes with the funeral scene, just as they tell Uncle Daniel he'll be charged with murder. It ends about 1 hour, 4 minutes into the film. The final segment continues to the end of the film.
