Description
Young Biddy Millican finds living and working at Gullmington mansion a difficult adjustment, and when she begins to teach some of the other employees to read and write, she finds herself an outcast, despised by her masters who believe that education for the lower classes is intolerable. At a Christmas celebration, Biddy recites a poem which scandalizes the family. Mrs. Fulton threatens to have her fired. When a twist of fate places her in a situation where only she can save the Gullmington family, Biddy puts duty above all and proves her mettle.
