Description
Transferred to Manchester, Jane Tennison is about to begin one of the toughest times of her life. Initially asked to lecture school children on law and order, it is not long before she is demanding that her new boss, DCS Ballinger, giver her a more meatier task. The murder of a drug dealer is the crime she is expected to solve, but what at first appears straightforward turns out to be a very complicated case--as a 14-year-old boy confesses to the killing. But there is no evidence to connect him to the crime, and Tennison's instinct tells her that the drug baron known as The Street is a more likely prime suspect. Tennison also has personal problems when she starts having an affair with the married Ballinger. Mixing business with pleasure has its problems, and Tennison's vulnerability quickly becomes apparent in this complicated situation. Tennison is trapped ina world she does not know, surrounded by people she cannot trust and is involved with a man she cannot have. When she thinks it cannot get any worse...it does.
