Description
It's the big day--interviews for college--and the parents of three candidates in particular are finding it harder than their children. Suddenly thre's a new understanding, the children are grown up, the anxiety and protectiveness on their behalf is comic and unnecessary, the familiar power structures in the families have shifted forever. In a parallel story, the interviewer himself is confronting his father, an elderly academic living in some chaos who is being urged to go into a residential home, but is determined to not go quietly.
