Description
Edward Langtry is disappointed that Lillie made no effort to attract the Prince of Wales; hed hoped hi might benefit if she did. Invited to tea, Lillie is left alone with Bertie, who didnt dare openly invite her to meet him. Suddenly, Edward Langtrys fortunes improve; they move to a larger house; Lillie has her own bedroom and a clothing allowance. She glitters at every occasion, always escorted by Bertie. But the end of the social season sends her back to Jersey, where Arthur Jones, a childhood friend, tells her he loves her and wants to take her away from her unhappy marriage. Ba k in London, Lillie learns that Bertie, in town incognito, wants to see her. She becomes his mistress and meets his wife, Princess Alexandra. The two women immediately like each other
