Description
Bertie and Lillies idyllic stay at the country house he built for her at Bournemouth is cut short when Bertie must return to London to welcome Crown Prince Rudolph of Austria, who not only pays excessive attention to Lillie at a ball, but attempts to force himself on her in private. Bertie has him recalled to Austria, begins to be seen in public with Lillie, and arranges for her to be presented to the Queen. Arthur Jones comes from Jersey and spends a few days with his beloved at Bournemouth while Bertie is occupied with Sarah Bernhardt. Lillie refuses to go back to Jersey with Arthur, who knows nothing about her liason with Bertie. At a fancy dress ball, she commits a faux pas by wearing a costume that exactly matches Berties, and when he reproaches her, she drops some ice down the royal collar
