Description
Gertrude Morel marries her miner husband at the height of physical passion and she is very happy. The marriage disintigrates very quickly as Walter Morel drinks heavily and begins beating his wife and, eventually, his children. "Sons and Lovers" is about the relationship between Gertrude and her artistic son, Paul and is considered D. H. Lawrence's autobiographical novel.
