Winner of the 1999 British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for best single drama on Television, this bittersweet tale of class, friendship, and old age stars Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay as two widowed war veterans coming to terms with the deaths of their wives.

Finney delivers a brilliantly sympathetic performance as Squadron Leader Reggie Conyngham-Jervis, an upper-crust ladies' man and ex-fighter pilot. Courtenay is Roy Southgate, a retiring and obsessively decent ex-milkman.

The two are as unlikely to cross paths as a Reggie and Roy could be. But after their wives die in the same hospital on the same day, they find themselves roommates in Reggie's mansion. Friendship blooms, in an odd way, until Liz (Joanna Lumley of Absolutely Fabulous) chances into the picture to steal Reggie's heart -- or is it his bank account?
