Mrs. Rouncewell The kindly old housekeeper of Chesney Wold, home of Sir Leicester and Lady Dedlock. She has two sons: George, and another who is an important ironmaster in northern England. A native of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, Anne Reid has been acting since the 1950s. In 2004 she won acclaim and a BAFTA nomination for her performance in the film The Mother, alongside Daniel Craig (the newest James Bond). Other credits include performances in Doctor Who, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Dalziel and Pascoe, Midsomer Murders and Coronation Street. In 1995 she provided the voice of "Wendolene Ramsbottom" in Wallace and Gromit in A Close Shave.
