Bayham Badger A doctor and the cousin of Mr. Kenge, the solicitor to whom Richard Carstone is apprenticed. Dr. Badger's wife talks incessantly about her two former husbands, Captain Swosser and Professor Dingo. Richard Griffiths has appeared in many classic films such as Withnail and I, Gandhi, Chariots of Fire, Sleepy Hollow and the Harry Potter movies (as Uncle Vernon). He played the grotesque chef Swelter, in PBS' adaptation of Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast. Prior to his TV and film work, he built up a reputation on the stage playing Shakespearean clowns with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2004, he proved a big hit as Hector in Alan Bennett's The History Boys at the National Theatre.
