Eleven years later, 18-year-old Jon (Lee Williams) and Fleur (Emma Griffiths Malin) meet at an art gallery. Realizing they have met as children, they hit it off again. Affairs of the heart also seize the older generation as Profond flirts with Winifred (Amanda Root) and Soames's wife, Annette (Beatriz Batarda). Meanwhile, Winifred's dissolute husband, Dartie (Ben Miles), hits bottom. Episode 2 - Plot Revealed Below! Sunday, February 15, 2004 Check local listings In a gambling marathon that wins him more than enough to pay his creditors, Dartie has the night of his life. Fleur accuses Profond of having an affair with her mother, Annette. Profond turns the tables by telling Fleur about Soames's long-ago marriage to Irene. This solves part of the riddle about the family feud but complicates Fleur's romance with Jon. When Mont asks Soames for Fleur's hand in marriage, Soames consents and hopes that Fleur will, too. In a private meeting, Young Jolyon tells her about his illness and asks her to give up Jon. She agrees, but soon makes plans with Jon to elope. ![]() Episode 3 - Plot Revealed Below! Sunday, February 22, 2004 Check local listings A holiday at a cricket match turns into disaster when Soames runs into Profond, who brazenly lures Annette to Paris; Fleur refuses Mont's proposal; Soames, Irene, and Jolyon have an icy encounter; and Jolyon spies Jon alone with Fleur, proving that she lied to him about giving up their romance. Later, in a stormy meeting with Jon, Jolyon reveals his real objection to Fleur's family.
